Surface Grinding Machine Grinding Wheel

Surface grinding‌ is a process of precision machining workpiece planes, grooves and other surfaces through high-speed rotating grinding wheels, aiming to:

‌Improve plane accuracy‌: Correct flatness, parallelism and surface roughness;

Adapt to high-hardness materials‌: Machining planes of hard-to-cut materials such as hardened steel and cemented carbide;

Realize complex structures‌: Machining stepped surfaces, grooves, teeth and other special-shaped surfaces;

Surface grinding is divided into two categories according to the contact mode of the grinding wheel:

‌1. Circumferential grinding (circumferential grinding)‌ ‌Grinding wheel contact surface‌:

The circumferential surface of the grinding wheel contacts the workpiece;

‌Features‌:

‌Small contact area, good heat dissipation conditions, high processing accuracy;

Low surface roughness, suitable for precision processing;

Single feed amount is small and the efficiency is low.

‌2. End grinding (end face grinding)‌ ‌Grinding wheel contact surface‌:

The end face of the grinding wheel contacts the workpiece;

‌Features‌:

‌Large contact area, large feed amount is allowed, and the efficiency is increased by 3-5 times;

Grinding heat is concentrated, the processing accuracy is low, and the surface roughness is high. It is mostly used for rough processing or batch processing.
